The Banbury & District Twinning Association recently hosted a wonderful cultural exchange, welcoming three guests—Ounissa, Christine, and Francoise—from our twin town of Ermont, France.
Our guests arrived in Banbury on Thursday (2nd October), and spent a delightful first evening getting to know their generous Twinning hosts.
This visit continues a rich tradition of cultural, sporting, musical, and artistic exchanges that our organisations and schools have enjoyed since 1982.
Highlights of the Weekend
The weekend was packed with activities, perfectly timed with the festive atmosphere of the Banbury Canal Festival: (We had a stall with tombola).
Friday: A deep dive into local history! The day started with a historic walk through Banbury with historian Steve Kilsby, followed by a tour of the Town Hall.
Lunch was enjoyed in the historic Globe Room at the Reindeer Inn on Parson Street. The afternoon included a visit to the Banbury Museum and a fascinating stop at the Park Road Mosque.
Saturday: Our guests enjoyed the vibrancy of the Canal Festival, where they had the honour of meeting the Town Mayor.
Sunday: Following more time at the Canal Festival, the cultural immersion continued with a visit and lunch at the Hook Norton Brewery.
The exchange concluded on Monday morning when our friends from Ermont departed.
